Chapter 6

Littleton, Here We Come

He didn’t know what to think lately. Why he’d stuck with Chandra was anyone’s guess. Okay, maybe it was because she was wild and beautiful. The memory of the incredible sex also came to mind. It made him think, but no. She couldn’t be his. This female was way more than the goddess would ever grant him. This was just a mission for the white wolf that was all.

Last but not least, he exited as the final guard carrying bags which he loaded in the car. One of the other guards got the baby and the driver helped with the bags. Two trips and all bags were loaded, and everyone was in the car. The driver took them down the road with everyone watching carefully. It wasn’t that he didn’t watch on his own trip, but he wondered if this high level of alert was a constant for Simon and his family. That would be hard to live with this all the time.

Remembering the time he’d spent around them at their hotel/casino, they had been relaxed most of the time. That made him feel bad for bringing this trouble to them until he remembered it was vampire trouble. This was what Simon did for a living. He felt better now. Surely Simon had been glad it had been brought to him rather than anyone else. While it had been around about, he had a feeling Ariel had known it would go to Simon eventually.

It was understandable that Chandra would want to see her mother before going into this kind of danger. Looking around, except for the baby doll, they all looked tough even Chandra who he didn’t think was. If he even considered mating her, she needed to learn to fight with her wolf. A wolf he didn’t think she’d even seen yet. Caging your wolf would piss it off, but maybe it was an understanding wolf. That would make it the first one he’d ever heard of.

No one seemed to take notice of them as they headed to the storage facility. Simon wanted a quick in and out then gone. The facility was near, and the thing was huge. It might be the only one in the state. Chandra hadn’t explained much, but he’d heard of these things before. She said for antiques, but it was paintings he’d heard of that were kept in them. Wine and antique documents, books, and such too.

“Are you ready, Chandra?” Simon asked as he had the driver pull up, so the back window was even to the gate controls.

“Please use your fingerprint and voice to enter the facility. Only the area your items are stored in will be available to you. Any attempt to enter another’s area will result in the facility locking down and the police being notified.” A computerized voice acknowledged.

“That’s new.”

“This is a new security feature.” The voice agreed.

“Did that thing just answer you?” He asked.

“That or I interrupted his spiel.” She suggested. Now she placed her thumb on the square and spoke a password.
